Under the health insurance policy terms, Star Health has always maintained that they would only accept claims (cashless or reimbursement) at their network hospitals. An exception would only be made in the case of medical emergencies and accidents.
However, this was not strictly enforced until now. Star Health has now started denying claims (except medical emergencies and accidents)made at non-network hospitals across all their insurance policies (including retail policies). Though this condition was not enforced by Star Health previously, but effective1 Feb 2022, the below clause would be strictly enforced with no exceptions.
"...Treatment in our network hospitals only, However in the case of Medical Emergencies & Accidents, treatment can be taken in other Hospitals. In all cases immediate intimation shall be given to our Call Center within 72hrs of hospitalization or before discharge whichever is earlier."
Important: If you/your employees have any pending claims made at non-network hospitals of Star Health, please reach out to the Plum team (care@plumhq.com) immediately.
Do note that no exceptions will be made after 31 Jan, 2022.
